The other day was so beautiful that I decided to let all the kids out to play. We were well overdue! These ladies sure loved rooting around in the dirt of my very neglected flower beds.
I think we have the nicest chickens ever.....Bella doesn't even try to get away from miss Maddy anymore. She just stands there and lets her pick her up and do almost anything....It's really funny!
This girl thinks she's a rooster...LOL She thought she was pretty cool perching up on Daddy's rock pile! I'm just glad she didn't poop on them...LOL
As soon as we let the chickens out, miss Alice disappeared and I was really starting to get worried. After Maddy and I spent about 15 min. searching the yard I heard some very low clucking going on behind our garbage can area. I finally found her up under the porch and behind our recycle cans. The mystery of why our chickens stopped laying eggs for a few days was discovered. Alice was busy tucking all the eggs up under her and playing mother hen. I wasn't sure what was going on with this, so I gently pulled her off the gravel nest to see if it was just her or if the other ladies were responsible too. Here we have it.....all 3 chickens decided that laying in gravel was better. I decided to just let her do her thing back there and left the eggs to see if she would go back and lay another.
About 15 min. later Alice popped out and started to eat, so of course I had to go check out the gravel nest.
Check out that beautiful new green egg at the top of there nest.
I pulled that one out so it didn't get stained by there dirty feet. What a nice egg!
This little guy thought he was going to be in charge while outside....LOL Yeah right, Bella and Alice might let him get away with it but Pretty girl ( the one on the left ) was not having his bully butt. She kept him away from the other girls for the most part too. I wish I had the camera out when she chased him half way across the yard....She put him in his place!!!
After missing the too funny little black dog and chicken chase, I decided to keep the camera out. Of course nothing excited happened, so I decided to play around with the camera and some of the pics I'd taken. Just love this feature.....it does Sepia all on its own. I thought they looked pretty cute. Especially since Maddy was in her awful outside clothes that don't match at all. All in all it was a nice day to be outside and we all had fun!
I bet that did Miss Maddy paddy a lot of good to get out and get some fresh air. Chickens look good. Do they have nest to lay in?
