I have decided to break this blog into two separate one's. I wanted to dedicate this blog to little Red Red, who Maddy is still heart broken over. She continues to ask about her and where she is. Let me tell you, it is one of the saddest things I have had to deal with, when it comes to her. So the story starts with Tasha, my sister in law who got her son Mark 3 chicks. Maddy has been there several times to hold Marks chicks. A couple weekends ago while we were at Tasha's doing Mexican cooking, Jake finally got to see how much his little girl loved Mark's chicks. That following week Maddy went to her grandmas house to stay for 3 nights, and while out to dinner with my hubby he tells me that he has made the decision.....What??? I wasn't sure what the heck he was talking about, so he says " I've decided that we could get Maddy some chicks".....OMGOSH, is all I could say. So the next day on his way home from work he stopped and got two, ( that was as many as he was willing to get ). I still can't believe he decided to do this at all. So the picture below is Red Red, she passed away sometime Saturday night or early Sunday morning. We went out to the garage to visit our babies and I found Red Red had gone to chick heaven.

I know I am doing this a little backwards, sorry! This was a very hard day to get through by the way....no thanks to grandma Soup....LOL She was thinking she would bring Maddy home on Wed. evening but then decided to bring her home on Thurs. morning. Let me tell you, that was so hard to keep those chicks a secret. I had to wait until daddy came home from work so he could show her what he got for her. It was a pretty big deal for him! So here is the big reveal of baby chicks.

She wasn't sure if they were hers or not.

Could they be any cuter!

I think daddy made his little girls dream come true. The brown one is Alice ( from Alice in wonderland ) and of course the red one is Red Red. She named them both.

Good bye little Red Red!

Momma couldn't help it, I had to bring them in the house the first night we got them. How cute are they, they curled right up and passed out.

A Busy Day!

Poor little Maddy was so tired when she got home from school. I asked her to lay down on the couch to rest for a while and this is what happened. She did not take a nap at school and had way to much fun there.

After we had a yummy shrimp and pepper kabobs dinner, this is what miss Maddy tells me, " look mom the peppers are in my tummy can you see them?"
I thought this was just to cute!
Yes, I know my child is strange, but that is why I love her so much. She always comes up with the funniest things to do or say. Last night it was the bad turtles, they tied her up....as you can see it is her swing rope that is wrapped around her arm...LOL
Mom.....they really have me stuck here!

Save me mom.....I need you mom....save me!!!

Finally we made it back into the house around 8:00 and she finally decides to be sweet and let me take her picture with out making funny faces. Don't let that face fool you, she did have to make a few faces, but I chose not to post those since I had these beauties!

Burning Chair

I'm sure your wondering, why the heck is there a chair sitting in my back yard on top of a burn pile. Well, let me tell you, it has taken 5 years to get this thing out of the house and onto that little pile of coals. When I first met my hubby, he was what you would call a typical bachelor. He had the old, (but very comfy chair) as he would say. After a few years together, we decided it was time to get him a new chair and ditch the old Lazy boy recliner. Even with the new chair, he still wouldn't give up this old and by now broken chair. He told me it could stay down stairs and be another place to sit....LOL! About a week ago our new couches came in, so the old couches went down stairs.....catching on yet....He finally decided that we just don't have the room for this ugly ( but don't forget comfy chair) in our home anymore. So he surprised me last night by dragging it outside.

On went the gas......

and more gas!

After several failed attempts, it finally is fully engulfed in flames.

It burned very fast....this was about 10 min later. Maddy enjoyed throwing sticks on top.

The next day aftermath.

Fun at Tasha's farm!!!

Finally a day without rain, we took advantage of this. We took a trip down the road to Tasha's farm....not really a farm, but that's what little miss Maddy called it when we left. I didn't tell her where we were going or what we were doing this morning, so she was pretty excited when we got there and found out what we were going to be doing. We did have to wait a little while so Shadow could finish eating. I think we had tears from little miss Maddy 5 or 6 times before we made it out to Shadow, I think I should have kept it a secret up until she was putting on the helmet and climbing on. She seems to calm down and be pretty mellow when it comes to horses, as you can see in the picture below. How sweet it is....

This would be just starting out, and I think she wanted to bust at the rim with excitement.

Check out that smile!!!

She held on, and did exactly what auntie Tasha said.

She looks like a natural.

Riding was not enough, she had to pet Shadow too....

and she had to check out her shoes. Auntie Tasha did a great job explaining why she need shoes and how they are on there. Kudo's to you Tasha!!!

I think she will be asking for a horse soon....LOL Daddy will freak!!!

After all the horse excitement was over the chicken excitement started up. They are to cute sitting there waiting for Tasha to bring out the little chicks.
Tasha started Maddy out with Chad, the biggest chick first. We didn't know how this would go and did not want to take our chances.
She did very well.......

so she got to hold the next size down Travis, which is Mark's favorite! Oh ya almost forgot to add that all these chicks are girls, and Mark got to name them, there is a story behind this but I don't know how to add the link without Tasha's help....hehehe!

Finally she got to hold the little one named Angle! She was very gentle with her too!

We ended the fun with some gardening, they were suppose to be hunting for worms to feed the little chicks.

No worms lots their lives!
Of course I couldn't leave without making them pose for a picture together.
